NOMINATION DEADLINE: Friday, December 9, 2016
Thank you for your interest in nominating an outstanding teacher for the fifth annual Big Apple Awards: Recognizing Teacher Excellence in New York City.
Why nominate a teacher?
•Show your appreciation for a dedicated educator who has made an impact on you and/or your community.
•Contribute to a citywide conversation about teaching excellence and showcase the work happening in your school community.
•Make your teacher’s day. Every time a teacher is nominated, they receive an email letting them know.
•The teacher you nominate could become one of the more than 200 District Finalists.
•The teacher you nominate could even become a Big Apple Award recipient and spend the 2017-18 school year participating in the Big Apple Fellowship and representing teachers citywide as members of the Chancellor’s Teacher Advisory Group.
•All nominees will be considered for additional DOE recognition opportunities throughout the year.
Who can I nominate?
Nominees should be current, full-time teachers at New York City district schools, charter schools, or teaching full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten at a NYC Early Education Center (NYCEEC).
Please note that you may nominate more than one teacher for this award.
Who can submit a nomination?
Anyone can submit a nomination for a current teacher — students, families, teachers, administrators, community members.
What’s new this year?
•Nominee Notification – All nominees will be notified soon after their names are submitted, in order to let them know that someone took the time to thank them and share what makes them special.
•Expanded Recognition – 200+ teachers will be named District Finalists, receive an interview and/or classroom visit from their superintendent teams, and be invited to join the citywide Teacher Excellence Network.
I’m ready to nominate! What information will I need to submit?
•Your name and a valid email address;
•Basic information about your nominee (including their name and school);
•A statement on why your nominee should be considered for the Awards.
